چکیده

The ground states of noninteracting fermions in one-dimension with chiral symmetry form a class topological band insulators, described by invariant that can be related to the Zak phase. Recently, generalization this quantity open systems---known as ensemble geometric phase (EGP)---has emerged robust way describe topology at nonzero temperature. By using quantity, we explore nature allowed for dissipation beyond Lindblad description, allow coupling external baths finite temperatures. We introduce two main aspects theory open-system topology. First, discover transitions function temperature $T$, manifesting changes differences EGP accumulated over closed loop parameter space. characterize these and reveal corresponding nonequilibrium steady state exhibit nontrivial structure---contrary previous studies where it was found fully mixed state. Second, demonstrate itself becomes quantized when key symmetries are present, allowing viewed marker which undergo equilibrium

Topological Invariance at Finite Temperature

We examine the thermal behavior of a theory with charged massive vector matter coupled to Chern-Simons gauge field. We obtain a critical temperature Tc, at which the effective mass of vector field vanishes, and the system transfers from a symmetry broken phase to topological phase. The phase transition is suggested to be of the zeroth order, as the free energy of the system is discontinuous at ...

Finite Temperature Field Theory and Phase Transitions *

We review different aspects of field theory at zero and finite temperature, related to the theory of phase transitions. We discuss different renormalization conditions for the effective potential at zero temperature, emphasizing in particular the MS renormalization scheme. Finite temperature field theory is discussed in the real and imaginary time formalisms, showing their equivalence in simple...

Finite Temperature Dynamics near Quantum Phase Transitions

We review the non-zero temperature relaxational dynamics of quantum systems near a zero temperature, second-order phase transition. We begin with the quantum Ising chain, for which universal and exact results for the relaxation rates can be obtained in all the distinct limiting regimes of the phase diagram. Next, we describe the crossovers in the electron spectral function near a transition inv...

Topological Aspects of Phase Transitions

In the past decade and a half, an alternative analysis of phase transitions, based in the topological behavior of system configuration spaces, has been introduced. This method offers a new understanding of many phase transitions, particularly those in finite systems, using topology and manifold behavior. While the broadest hypotheses offered by researchers have proven overly optimistic, the met...

Phase Transitions in Separated Dp−1 and anti-Dp−1 Branes at Finite Temperature

We consider a pair of parallel Dp−1 and anti-Dp−1 branes in flat space, with a finite separation d along some perpendicular spatial direction and at finite temperature. If this spatial direction is compactified on a circle then by T-duality, the system is equivalent to a Dp-antiDp pair wrapped around the dual circle with a constant Wilson line A ≈ d on one of the branes. We focus in particular ...
